New Jersey becomes 14th medical marijuana state!

On Monday, we received some very exciting news from the Garden State. On the last day of its lame duck legislative session, the New Jersey General Assembly and State Senate both passed their medical marijuana bill and transmitted it to Governor Jon Corzine.

Gov. Corzine, who was defeated for re-election in November, has pledged to sign the bill before he leaves office on January 19. This will make New Jersey the 14th medical marijuana state, and the fourth with state-regulated dispensaries.

New Jersey’s bill is similar in many ways to the legislation we have proposed here in Arizona. It’s very exciting to see the momentum building nationwide for policies that finally end the cruel and unnecessary policy of prosecuting the seriously and terminally ill for following their doctor’s advice. Congratulations to the New Jersey legislature and Gov. Corzine for putting patients first.
