This week, the Arizona Medical Marijuana Policy Project — which has received a significant portion of its funding from MPP — crossed the three-month mark for our signature drive and I'm ecstatic about the progress we've made thus far. In the heat of the summer, we've collected more than 90,000 signatures, better than 35% of the way to our goal! Now that the weather is (hopefully) about to cool, we are set to kick the drive into high gear.
PHOENIX — An initiative drive launched Thursday would give some people who are prescribed marijuana and test positive for the drug on the job the same legal anti-discrimination protections against getting fired as women and minorities.

If supporters of the legalization of medical marijuana in Arizona gather enough signatures to put a measure on next year’s ballot, it would mark the fourth time in little more than a decade that residents have been asked to deregulate or decriminalize pot.
And judging by the history of such ballot measures in Arizona, the signature requirement might be nothing more than a formality.

An effort is underway to legalize medical marijuana in Arizona through an initiative aiming for the 2010 ballot.
The measure, expected to hit the streets soon, would allow seriously ill patients to use marijuana with a doctor's recommendation to treat symptoms such as nausea, loss of appetite, chronic pain and muscle spasms, said Andrew Myers, campaign manager for the Arizona Medical Marijuana Policy Project.

An initiative planned for the 2010 ballot would ask Arizona voters to legalize medical marijuana, setting up a California-style network of cannabis clubs and even allow some patients to grow their own drug supply.
PHOENIX — A doctor's note will allow Arizonans to buy marijuana — or even grow the drug in their home — if a national group seeking voter approval gets its way next year.
The group has drafted a measure they hope to get on the 2010 ballot that would legalize medical marijuana here and set up a system of non-profit "dispensaries."
